7 Tips for Crafting the Perfect Tech Deployment Track Application

These tips can help your company put together a strong Tech Deployment Track application, opening the door to future partnerships, projects, and technology deployment opportunities in Alaska.

We are so excited to announce that applications for the 2023-24 Tech Deployment Track cohort are now open! We’re looking for climate-focused companies with promising new technologies in energy, transportation, and industry.

The companies that succeed in our program are generally mid- to late-stage companies with a product or service that is ready for deployment. Most of the companies that apply to our program are looking to validate their business model and/or seeking early customers. And, most importantly, they are interested in making an impact in Alaska.

Since Launch Alaska started the Tech Deployment Track in 2019, about 60 percent of all companies that apply have been accepted into the program. But as climate tech continues to develop at a rapid pace around the world, we’ve noticed the quality of applications has gone up – last year only 40 percent of applicants were invited to join us in Alaska.

So if you’re thinking of applying, here are few tips that will help your application stand out:

  • Focus on Alaska. What is your Alaska value proposition? Be specific and do your research.

  • Keep it simple. Give us a clear description of how your product works without acronyms or jargon. Potential customers with whom we connect you may or may not be experts in your field.

  • Highlight your company’s impact on climate change. How is your technology innovative in your sector and what are the benefits it can provide to the Alaska market and the world?

  • Be specific when it comes to your engagement to date with partners and customers. Tell us what contracts you’ve signed, product you’ve delivered, or concrete commitments you have already secured. Don’t make claims that you can’t back up.

  • Focus on your market traction and scalability.

  • Words matter. Your application should look professional with no spelling or grammar mistakes.

  • We are looking for the extraordinary! Highlight what you and your team have done that you are proud of outside of your company. How and why is your tech unique? Differentiate yourself.
