ZeroAvia and Alaska Airlines Developing World’s Largest Zero-Emission Aircraft

Launch Alaska Portfolio company ZeroAvia has partnered with Alaska Airlines to develop the largest zero-emissions aircraft yet.

The two companies unveiled the Bombardier Q400 regional turboprop during a special event at Paine Field in Everett, Washington on May 1. The aircraft is retired from regional carrier Horizon Air’s Q400 fleet; ZeroAvia will retrofit the plane with a hydrogen-electric propulsion system. The May 1 event also featured a demonstration of ZeroAvia’s multi-megawatt modular electric motor system, HyperCore, dubbed “the world’s most advanced electric motor technology for aviation.”
